Home Officers Our calendar State SIR organization Activities and committees Application for membership About us

The Sirmonicats are one of the smallest groups in the branch. They were formed to provide variety and support for the Song Sirs the theory being that after two or three songs the Song Sirs could take a rest while the Sirmonicats played a couple of numbers. We also felt that there would be more people who could play the Harmonica and that eventually we would build a group that could perform separately from the Song Sirs. This has not happened but we are going to keep our options open. Right now we have three regular players and one bass harmonica player (who has not been very active in 07 but has promised to participate more in 08 - we'll see). We also have a drummer who is useful on specialty numbers requiring percussion. Longer range we might open things up a little to include musical instruments other than the harmonica but this opens up a whole new can of worms. The year 2008 will be kind of a test to see what direction we want to take. I have my eye on a couple of guys who play the harmonica but are not Sirs. I'm going to try to bring them in to the fold. With five or six players we could expand our activities considerably. Anyone interested should contact Jim Helmick on 376-6042
