FORMAT: The Garden Club meets once a month to have one of the following:
Have a presentation from a member on a gardening topic
Have guest lecturers
Field trips
Exchange knowledge of gardening
Meetings and or field trips will generally be held on the first Thursday of the month between 9:30 and 11:30 am. Each member, in turn, will be responsible for the topic, lecturer or field trip for the next month. Joint meetings may be arranged with other garden clubs to share a speaker or field trip.
ORGANIZATION:
In December the club will elect a chairman, vice chairman, garden mentor and membership chair...The function of the chairman will be to conduct the monthly meeting and provide information to the SIR Call.
The function of the vice-chairman will be to coordinate the meeting topic with the responsible member and to contact the member regarding the next meeting and topic.
The function of the garden mentor will be to give a presentation on “what to do now in the garden” and research unanswered gardening questions raised in the meetings.
The function of the membership chair is to contact newly inducted Sirs and those on the waiting list, about the Garden Club. For those who have an interest in the Garden Club, provide them with a copy of our purpose and membership roster.
SOME OF OUR PAST ACTIVITIES:
We have combined bus trips with the wine tasting and cooking groups to various wineries and gardens in central California.
Member presentations on: Square foot gardening...Grafting...Poisonous Plants...Soil composition and make up...Bonsai demonstration
Lawns...Mums...And many more
Navalet’s Buzz Bertalero on new plants and products...Master Gardeners on integrated pest management, vegetable gardening, basic entomology, irrigation systems, California Peach Association, etc.
