Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting
September 13, 2007
I. Call to Order
Big Sir Jim Stedman called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.
II. Members in Attendance
Officers and Directors: Baily, Gates, Matthews, Mitchell, O’Sullivan, Snyder, Somerville, Stedman, Thomson, and Zamolo. Committee Chairmen: Bill Root, Don Nunn, Doug Cook, Bob Yolland, Charlie Kiser, Dick DeVoe, Don Del Bene, and Dave Obera.
III. Secretary’s Report
The minutes of the August 9, 2007 BEC meeting were accepted.
IV. Treasurer’s Report
Bill Snyder presented the report for August. At month end our bank balance was $ 6222.89. Tom Thomson requested approval for the Christmas Lunch: attendance cap at 290 and a cost of $ 24.00 per person. Motion by Tom Thomson seconded by Bill Snyder, approved.
V. Little Sir’s Report
Our speaker today will be Frank Schipani, the Godfather of Blackjack and a member of the Blackjack Hall of Fame. His topic will be “My Life Playing Blackjack”.
Our speaker for October will be Officer Bob Roberts with the Contra Costa K9 patrol. He will bring his dog Freddy.
VI. Big Sir’s Report
Jim and Don Del Bene outlined the procedure for today’s evacuation drill.
Jim stressed that every member should bring guests and be on the lookout for new members.
It was agreed that in the future the BEC will meet at 10:00 instead of 9:30 AM,
except when scheduled earlier by the Big Sir due to a heavy agenda.
VII. Old Business
Because of travel and vacations we will not be accepting new members this month. We will accept six new members in October.

IX. Committee Reports
Luncheon Chairman , Bill Root presented our expected attendance to be 187. Our guarantee to Blake’s is 177. Attendance is down because of Sir Travel and vacations.
Activities Coordinator. Dick DeVoe discussed a New Activities Flyer that is being distributed to ascertain interest in the proposed activities and seek other new ideas for branch activities.
John Pearl is the new Chairman of the Explore and Dine Out group. This group plans to meet on the 4 th Thursday of most months.
Social Chairman , Don Nunn plugged the Dinner Dance to be held on the 3d of October. Don, after 19 of these gala affairs, is seeking a new Chairman to take over these events.
Sir Call Editor , Pete Gates informed the BEC that Rich Ahlf will do the next issue.
Pete is looking for backup editors and asked for BEC authorization to spend $ 200 for a copy of Microsoft Publisher for a new assistant editor.
Motion by Gates seconded by Mitchell, passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 AM.
